I made a call to England

Before I even spoke

A voice came on, which sounded like

A tired English bloke.

“Madam,” he said. “Please listen to me

I really have to say

Your furniture will be delivered

Later in the day.”

“My goodness,” said I, with a laugh

A miracle I must say

For I am phoning from the States

Three thousand miles away.”

“Madam,” he said, “Although of course

I don’t know who you are

You certainly have made my day

It’s not been good so far.”
