RICHFORD – Elizabeth “Liz” E. Blodgett, age 82, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 31, 2019 at her home in Richford, surrounded by her family.

She was born in Richford on July 24, 1936 to the late Carroll & Linnie (Donna) Mercy.

Liz was an outstanding mother, wife and grandmother. She will be greatly missed but will be remembered for her positive outlook and always finding the silver lining in life. No matter what, she always wore a smile.

She is survived by her children, Deborah Willey and her husband, Roger of Lowell, Joanne Lanphear and her husband, Cedric of Montgomery, Jodie Gagne and her husband, Michael of Swanton, and James Blodgett of Richford; eight grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; one great great grandson to be; siblings-in-law, Robert Blodgett of N.Y., Beulah Blodgett of S.C., and Charlotte Mercy of Franklin; lifelong special friends, Beverly and Everett Poirier, and several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, Liz was predeceased by her husband, Orville; brothers, Gordon, Harlan and John Mercy; and siblings-in-law, Harry Blodgett, Evelyn and Beverly Mercy. 

Liz’s family would like to extend a sincere thanks to granddaughters, Emily and Abby, Sara Gelo and Lori Sampietro for the wonderful care they offered. 

A funeral service will be held Thursday, June 6, 2019 at 2 p.m. at Spears Funeral Home, 96 Dickinson Ave., Enosburg Falls. Interment will follow in St. Isidore’s Catholic Cemetery.

Visitation will be held on Thursday at Spears Funeral Home from 12 p.m. until the hour of the service.
