ST. ALBANS — Mrs. Dolores Madeline Savage, age 84 years, a resident of this area for more than 60 years died Monday morning Dec. 16, 2013, in the Northwestern Medical Center.

Born in Astoria, Long Island, N.Y., on March 13, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Ferdinand G. and Mary R. (Klein) Gauthier. She attended schools on Long Island and on Sept. 3, 1949, was married to Keith Charles Savage who predeceased her on Aug. 11, 2009. In earlier years Dolores had been employed by Union Securities of New York City.

In addition to her responsibilities as a devoted wife and mother Dolores was a longtime parishioner of The Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, a member of the former St. Anne’s Academy Mothers Club as well as a member of the parish Altar Society, volunteer at the weekly Nativity Bingo and also sang several years with the Grandma’s and Grandpa’s Choral Group.

Survivors include two sons, Steven Savage and his wife, Suzanne, of Malone, N.Y., and Representative Brian Savage and his wife, Lynn, of Swanton; grandchildren, Melissa Andres and husband, Florencio, Sean Savage, Geoff Savage and Victoria Clark and her husband, Sean; great grandchildren, Caleigh Andres, and Emma Clark; a sister-in-law, Margaret Gauthier of Long Island, and several nieces and nephews. Also surviving are very close friends and special neighbors, Darrence and Jean Hakey of Swanton.

Besides her parents and husband, Dolores was predeceased by two brothers, George and Richard Gauthier and a sister, Catherine Smith.

A Funeral Service will be held Friday, Dec. 20, 2013, at 12:30 p.m. from The Kidder Memorial Home, 89 Grand Avenue, Swanton. Father Emmanuel I. Ajanma will officiate. The Rite of Committal and Interment will follow privately at the Savage family lot in Riverside Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 11 a.m. until the hour of the service.
