ST. ALBANS — William J. ‘Bill’ Norcross, a lifelong area resident passed away peacefully on Sunday, Jan. 3, 2016, at the age of 73 in the comfort of his own home surrounded by his loving family.
Born on May 22, 1942, in St. Albans, he was the son of the late Otis and Lillian (Peters) Norcross.
On Oct. 2, 1965, in St. Albans, he married his soul mate Althea Cross. They joyfully shared 50 memorable years together.
Bill was educated in St. Albans and then employed by the Dowling family in St. Albans and then retired from the Burlington Drug Company. For many years he operated Bill’s Shoe Repair on Lake Road. Throughout his years, Bill had the ability to touch the lives of many. Whether it was a simple greeting, joke, or hug, he made them feel like family.
Survivors include his wife, Althea, of St. Albans; their children, David Norcross and his wife, Judith, of N.C., Sherry Abentroth and her husband, Lloyd, of Fla. and Joann Wimble and her husband, Scott, of Swanton, ten grandchildren, and several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews, as well as his sister Mildred Shepard.
In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his siblings; Lawrence Norcross, Kenneth Norcross, Rita Goodenough, Leona Young, Eugenia Hubbard and his twin sister Marion Myers.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours on Friday, Jan. 8, 2016, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Heald Funeral Home, 87 So Main St., St. Albans.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, January 9th at 11 a.m. at Holy Angels Church, 245 Lake Street.
