SWANTON — William Francis (Bill) Bushey, 77, formerly of Swanton, passed away on Dec. 8 due to a long illness, at his son’s residence in Sevierville, Tenn.

Bill was born on Feb. 4, 1936 in St. Albans and was the son of Francis and Jennie (Partlow) Bushey. Bill worked for GE for over 23 years and was a member of the Vermont National Guard and the Reserves for 23 years. He was a lifetime member of the American Legion Post 1 in St. Albans and a lifetime member of the VFW.

Bill leaves his son, Darby, of Sevierville, Tenn., of whom he stayed with the last few years. He is also survived by his two grandchildren, Justin Bushey and Amanda Bushey, his two brothers, J. Michael Bushey of St. Albans, Bruce and his wife, Sharon Bushey, of St. Albans Town, as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife of 35 years, Grace Sorrell Bushey in 1996, his father, Francis, in 1943, his mother, Jennie J. Bushey Daigue in 1974, a sister, Constance Bushey Pelkey in 1974, and sister-in-law Carol E. Bushey in 2011. Internment will be in the spring at the convenience of the family.
