ST. ALBANS – Wesley W. North, 81, formerly of Lake Street, died peacefully with family and friends Saturday, Aug. 31, 2013, at the Northwestern Medical Center.
He was born in Orange, Vt. on June 9, 1932, the son of late Wesley and Clara (Carleton) North.
Wesley was an icon of St. Albans. He lived there for almost 32 years. He liked to take pictures of anyone and everything and to keep those photos safe in albums, to attend any party or gathering happening, to attend hockey games and all sports games where he could watch area youth playing, to stop in at the shops and stores in St. Albans, again to visit with people and to meet and greet anyone who would take the time to interact with him.
But what Wesley loved was riding his three-wheeler throughout the town to be able to do all his visiting with others. Wesley also had participated in the Special Olympics and lived for the annual Maple Festival.
He spent the past five years being an integral part of the Billow family, Linda, Tony and Nathan. This family also included Brenda and Louis Young and Sean. Wesley’s very special friend, David Boudreau, has remained as such for over 30 years. He had many special friends within the community including the Handy’s, Kevin Smith Sports, Rixon’s Pharmacy, the Red Top, Blouin’s IGA, St. Albans Bowling Center and many more.
Wesley had some special people who in recent years supported him with independence and care. Included are Amanda Reagan, Kathy Beaulieau, Bea Corwell, Connie Scott and Patty Greenia. There are many more, too many friends of Wesley’s to mention.
Wesley is survived by his nieces, Theresa M. Rouleau of Williamstown, Vt. and Moniqure J. Capuano of Orange, Conn., and his nephews, Richard H. Lakin of E. Barre, Levi R. Beach of Williamstown and William H. Johndro of Lee, Mass. He was predeceased by his parents, his brother, George C. North, sister, Bertha J. Payne and his very special friend and sister, Hattie M. Beach.
Friends are invited to attend calling hours on Friday, Sept. 6, 2013, from 3 to 4 p.m. at the Heald Funeral Home, 87 South Main St., St. Albans.
A funeral service will then be held at 4 p.m. in the Heald Chapel with the Reverend Maurice J. Roy officiating. Interment will be held at a later date in the Wilson Cemetery in Barre.
