BRIGHTON, N.Y. — Died peacefully but unexpectedly in Ann Arbor, Mich., on April 30, 2015, a month shy of her 80th birthday surrounded by her family. Gini was born in her grandmother’s house in McNally, Iowa on May 28, 1935 and spent her adult life raising her children in the Rochester area.

She was the beloved mother of J. Steven (Oona Lim), John (Wislaine), Kris (David Slentz), Amy (Bill Roberts) and Tim Burkhart. She is survived by 15 grandchildren: Mark, Christian, Virginia and Olivia Burkhart; Johnny (Knipler), Sarah and Elizabeth Burkhart; Will, Clay and Leslie Roberts; James and Emily Slentz; and Aaron, David and Lauren Burkhart.  Gini was predeceased by her parents Bernadine Ella Rounds and John Edwin Jones; also by her sister Charlotte Buchholtz. She is survived by her sisters Beverly (Jerry) McGuire and Pam (Roger) Pierce; also by Larry Buchholtz and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Gini was a compassionate geriatric nurse and retired from a decades long career at Monroe Community Hospital. She had unconditional love and devotion for her children and grandchildren which provided her greatest joys. There was never a moment where her love and generosity was not extended to even the friends of her children and grandchildren making them feel like her own. She was a beautiful woman inside and out, generous to all, and the social center of many circles. She was a fiercely independent woman with a love for travel.

In keeping with her wishes, there will be no funeral or calling hours. There will be a celebration of her life at the convenience of the family in August in Vermont. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to Roswell Park Cancer Institute (www.roswellpark.org) or The Gifts of Art program – University of Michigan Health System (www.med.umich.edu).
