ENOSBURG FALLS — Let no one claim the village officials aren’t down to boogie.

The village board of trustees gave its enthusiastic support to the idea of a downtown block party here in the late summer or in the fall at the board’s regular meeting last Tuesday, June 12.

The idea belongs to the Enosburg Business Association (EBA). Shawna Lovelette, the EBA’s president, proposed the idea to the board.

Lovelette said she hopes the idea may bring the community together for the purpose of downtown revitalization planning funded by the village’s Vermont Agency of Transportation Better Connections grant.

The village received that grant in March. The village is about to announce a consultant hired with those grant funds who will lead the community in creating a redevelopment plan to revitalize downtown Enosburg Falls.

That consultant will be contractually bound to work on that project until the fall of 2019.

By this fall, the steering committee responsible for hiring the consultant hopes whomever’s hired will have preliminary designs for how the downtown might change.

Lovelette said she hopes those preliminary designs might be featured at the block party for community input.

Sandy Ferland, who was also in attendance at this meeting as a member of the Enosburg Initiative, said, “They want the entire community’s engagement. And if we bring them all to a party then we can get them engaged.”
