ENOSBURG FALLS — The 60th Vermont Dairy Festival carried on a tried and true dairy festival tradition this weekend – no one rained on the parade.

Held on Saturday, the parade once again took place under sunny skies.

Rain did fall on Sunday, however.

“Friday and Saturday was a great turnout,” said Pierre Boudreau, chairman of the festival committee, which is sponsored by the Enosburg Lions Club. “Of course, yesterday was disappointing.”

Sunday’s big event, the horse pull, still drew a crowd. “The horse pull still went off without a hitch,” said Boudreau.

Nor did the rain keep people away from musical performances.

On Thursday, six local teens competed in the Vermont Dairy Festival Scholarship Pageant. Allison Gervais was crowned the winner.

Also competing were: Meghan Draper, Megan Rose, Judith Edele, Amy Kane and Taylor McMann Batholan.

Later this week, the Messenger will have a full list of contest winners from the festival.
