Town Meeting Day – Missisquoi Valley Union, VT

  • The MVU budget is down $943,000 to $14.5 million.
  • The board is asking for:
    • $10,000 for the football program
    • $15,000 for repairs to the track
    • $100,000 for the capital restoration fund
  • If all articles pass, the tax rate will be:
    • $0.650 in Franklin, an increase of 3.7 cents
    • $0.536 in Highgate, a decrease of 2.6 cents
    • $0.637 in Swanon, a decrease of one cent
  • MVU will need $11.84 million from the education fund, a decrease of $160,000.
  • The equalized per pupil count decreased 24.08 to 856.24.
  • Because of the drop in students, per pupil spending increased $197 to $13,822.
