ST. ALBANS – The Tim’s House annual Walk to End Homelessness, held Sunday in Taylor Park, helped the shelter raise $4,200.

Executive Director Linda Ryan was pleased with the turn out. “It was a beautiful day and I thank everyone that participated in the walk and made the day a success,” she added.

The participants, including shelter residents, staff, board members and community residents walked around the perimeter of Taylor Park, led by Ryan and the percussion band, “Sambatucada!”

Following the walk, which raised nearly the same amount as last year, families and shelter residents alike were treated to hot dogs and ice cream.

Ryan plans to use the shelters’ newly designed website, slated to launch in October, to raise more awareness for the annual event.

“Starting in January we will begin recruitment for committee members for the 2015 walk.” She encourages interested community members to start planning early next year and hopes to raise even more funds, as the number of homeless families continues to increase.
