ST. ALBANS — Thomas A. (Tommy) Viens, 50, of Plainville, Conn., and most recently from New Britain, Conn., passed away unexpectedly after a short illness. He was born on Sept. 25, 1963 in St. Albans. He was raised in both Nashua, N.H., and St. Albans, attending Bellows Free Academy.
Tommy was a free spirit who was talented in both art and interior decorating. Never at a loss for words, Tommy was a gifted communicator. His family and especially his children were always in his heart and on his mind. His conversations, laughter, and presence will be missed by all whose lives he touched and shared.
Tommy is survived by his father, Leo C. Viens and his wife, Annie, of Middlebury, and his mother, Gwen E. White of Wallingford, Vt. Tommy is also survived by two children, Ashley and her husband, Matthew Harris of Kiowa, Colo., and a son David and his fiancée, Amanda, of Castlerock, Colo.; one sister, Karen Alcorn, of Rutland, and a brother, Charlie Viens, and his wife, Barbara, of Hudson, N.H. He also leaves behind three grandchildren: Hailey, Christopher and Owen along with many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
After cremation, a celebration of his life will be held at The Marriott Inn, 309 Court Street, Middlebury, VT on Sunday, Jan. 19 at 2 p.m. Family and friends are invited to attend the brief service. In April, according to Tommy’s wishes, his ashes will be laid to rest in St. Albans Bay Cemetery in St. Albans Bay.
