MONTPELIER — The State Board of Education gave the go ahead for an Act 46 merger between the school districts in Franklin Northeast Supervisory Union (FNESU) within fifteen minutes of superintendent Jay Nichols and others sitting down to present their case.
“I wasn’t surprised at how smoothly it went because I think we’ve really put a lot of effort into our report,” Nichols said, after the unanimous affirmative decision came down.
“We’ve been working closely with the [Agency of Education] throughout the whole process to make sure we had our legal language right,” he said. “Spent a lot of time working on board representation to make sure that we were following the law completely.”
