ST. ALBANS — At 4:44 p.m. Wednesday an unarmed man entered the TD Bank on North Main Street and demanded money.
A St. Albans Police Dept. (SAPD) said the suspect was described as being five feet six inches tall and of medium build. He was reportedly wearing a hooded sweatshirt, black mask, jeans and gloves. The suspect fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of money.
Later on Wednesday, while an audience watched “How the Grinch Stole Christmas,” an unarmed man entered the Welden Theater and demanded money. That incident took place at 7:16 p.m. during the Festival of Trees related movie showing, which attracted many children and their families.
The theater robbery suspect was described as five feet, six inches tall wearing a dark jacket, mask and gloves. After leaving the theater he fled on foot, going south on North Main Street with an undisclosed amount of money. However, the police believe the two incidents are unconnected.
It was the third theft or attempted theft incident in the area in two days.
Swanton Village Police are reporting an attempted robbery on Tuesday morning at the Peoples Trust Company bank in Swanton at 5:50. The suspect demanded money from a person using the ATM, but did not have a weapon and did not threaten the victim, said police.
The suspect in Swanton was wearing dark pants, a hoodie, camouflage facemask and sunglasses.
