ST. ALBANS — Rosa A. Vasquez, a longtime resident of this area passed away early Friday, Feb. 7, 2014, at the Northwestern Medical Center with her family at her side.

Born on Nov. 1, 1931, in Lima, Peru she was the daughter of the late Grocio and Margarita (Fernandez) Calderon. Rosa was 82 years old.

Survivors include her two daughters; Rosa Burge and her husband, John, and Dora Vasquez all of St. Albans; her two grandchildren, Marco Antonio Ortiz and Frecia Rocio DeTorero, both of Peru.

Rosa is also survived by her family in Peru, her sister, Maria Briceno; nieces, Carmen Vasquez, Alicia Vargas and Maribel Quiroz; nephews, Carlos Vasquez, Miguel Vargas and Ricardo Quiroz; cousins, Teofila Olortegui, Gerardo Amador and Dominga Arce; her sister-in-law, Patricia De Ortiz and brother-in-law, Augusto Torero.  In addition to her parents, Rosa was preceded in death by her daughter, Janet R. Vasquez on July 14, 2011.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours on Monday, Feb. 10, 2014, from 3 to 4 p.m. at the Heald Funeral Home, 87 South Main Street.

A funeral service will then be held at 4 p.m. in the Heald Chapel with the Reverend Brian J. O’Donnell, Pastor of St. Mary’s Church officiating.  Interment will take place at a later date in the family lot in Greenwood Cemetery.
