MONTGOMERY — Ronald L. Sylvester, age 83, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 24, 2017.

He was born Jan. 4, 1934 in Montgomery to the late George & Doris (Rushford) Sylvester.

Ronald grew up in Montgomery and graduated from Enosburg Falls High School. He married Jeannette Ouellette in 1957. They lived in Connecticut for the first part of their life; Ronald worked as a manager at Uniroyal. Ronald and Jeannette returned to Montgomery in 1977 where they owned and operated Sylvester’s Inc. with Ronald’s brother Larry and his wife Jeannean. He was a member of the Montgomery Volunteer Fire and Rescue for many years. His favorite hobbies were snowmobiling and taking road trips with anyone who was game.

He is survived by his wife, Jeannette Sylvester of St. Albans; their children, Denise Domina and her husband Barry of St. Albans, Randy Sylvester and his wife Brenda of Wallingford, Conn., Kevin Sylvester and his wife Dianna of Wolcott, Terry Charron and her husband Chris of Lexington, Mass., Francine Dunn and her husband Roger of Shelburne and a son-in-law, Dale Lumbra of Montgomery; 13 grandchildren and five great grandchildren; his sister, Charlene Plouff of Enosburg Falls; sisters-in-law, Jeannean Sylvester and Maxine Robtoy of Enosburg Falls and Beverly Sylvester of Franklin and many other in-laws, nieces & nephews. Besides his parents, Ronald was predeceased by his daughter, Maureen Lumbra and his brothers, Wayne, Keith “Sam” and Larry Sylvester.

Visitation will be Sunday, Jan. 29, 2017 from 3 – 5 p.m. at the Spears Funeral Home, 96 Dickinson Ave., Enosburg Falls.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday, Jan. 30, 2017 at 11 a.m. at St. Isidore’s Catholic Church, 169 Mountain Road, Montgomery Center with Fr. Karl Hahr officiating. Interment will be held this spring in St. Isidore’s Catholic Cemetery.
