SWANTON — Roderick Mark Wheelock, 43, died unexpectedly on Tuesday, Sept. 22, 2015 at his home in Swanton.
Mark was born in Burlington on Aug. 20, 1972, the son of Roderick R. Wheelock Jr. and Gwendolyn J. Britch. He graduated from Mount Mansfield Union High School in 1989. Mark was a talented all around carpenter, working in all phases of the building industry before he was disabled by a back injury. Mark was an avid fisherman and hunter who spent every moment he could in the wilds of Vermont. Feared by fish everywhere, Mark taught many young people to hunt, fish, shoot and camp during his time.
He is survived by his parents, Gwen Combs and her husband Stan of Fairfield and Roderick Wheelock Jr; his wife Doris of Bolton; his dear friend Sherry Johnson of Swanton; his sister Mary Spence and her husband Darcy of Underhill; his brother Kenneth Wheelock and his wife Heather, serving as Missionaries in Ecuador, So. America; his grandmothers Geraldine Britch of Colchester and Marilyn Wheelock of Williston; his step-grandmother, Grace Villard of Manchester NH; his nieces and nephews Michael Lipka, Rebecca Davis, Sierra Spence, Sam, Emily and Sofia Wheelock, and by numerous friends. All of his treasured nieces and nephews have many fond memories of numerous adventures in the great outdoors with Uncle Mark.
Mark was predeceased by his grandfathers Amos Britch and Roderick Rogers Wheelock Sr. and step-grandfather Maurice Villard.
A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, Sept. 25, 2015 at 6 p.m. in the Minor Funeral and Cremation Center in Milton. Friends may call on the family on Friday from 4 p.m. until the hour of the funeral.
