ST. ALBANS — With heavy hearts the family of Roberta A. Scott “Bertie” a lifelong resident of this area, announces her unexpected passing on Monday, Aug. 25, 2014, peacefully at her own home.
Born on Aug. 28, 1936, in St. Albans, she was the daughter of the late Henry W. and Violet Maud (Cleverly) Jones. Roberta was 77 years old.
On Nov. 14, 1953, at Our Lady of the Lake Church, Roberta married Charles W. Scott, who preceded her in death on April 4, 2004.
Roberta was a longtime employee of Redstone Villa Nursing Home and was a life member of Robert E. Glidden Post # 758, Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary and a member of Green Mountain Post # 1, American Legion Ladies Auxiliary. She had a great passion for playing bingo with her friends and family as much as she could. She loved playing cards with all of her sisters. You could always find her in front of the TV watching her game shows or “Law and Order”. She really enjoyed sitting on her couch popping her bubble wrap.
Survivors include her daughters, Sandra LaBounty and husband, Mike, of Fairfield, Wendy Pecor and husband, Albert, of Sebring, Fla., Nora Roberge of St. Albans and a daughter-in-law, Daine Collier 40 years of Enosburg, Connie Scott of St. Albans as well as many grandchildren, Jamie Scott, Danielle Scott, Shawn Pecor, Shannon Pecor, Amber Pecor, Melissa LaBounty, Jessica LaBounty, Chris Murray, Archie Domina Jr., and Josh Fitzgearld. And many great grandchildren, Brianna Dubie, Gabbie Dubie, Trenton Scott, Jeremiah Register, Austin Register, Maurienna Pecor, Sydney Pecor, Kaleb Gagner and seven more from New York.
Roberta is also survived by two brothers, Roy Jones of South Windsor, Conn., and Ernest Jones of Enosburg; seven sisters, Ruth Young, Doris Burns, Arrietta Demar and Irene Quintin all of St. Albans, Phyllis Hutchinson of North Highlands, Calif., Edith Houston of Contoocook, N.H., and Eunice Shanks of Austin, Texas, Brother in law, Warren Scott of Tampa, Fla., sister in law Barbara Russell and husband, John, of St. Albans Bay, and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents Henry in November of 1987 and Violet in December of 2004, husband, Charles W. Scott, Sr., April 2004, son, Charles W. Scott, Jr. in April of 2005, her siblings, Dorothy Hance in September of 1984, Elsie Hance in April of 2011, Mona Olsen in March of 1986, Henrietta Shappy in April of 2010, Henry Jones Jr. in March 1970, Allen Jones and James Jones in November 1950 and Robert Wesley in January 1936.
