ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — Robert (Bob) L. Rixon died peacefully June 30, 2015 while surrounded by family members.

Bob was born in Springfield, Vt. Aug. 31, 1930, the second son of John Rixon Sr. and Blanche Gosselin Rixon. Bob and family moved to St Albans at age 9 where he attended St Mary’s and graduated high school in 1948.

Soon after graduation Bob enlisted in the U.S. Air Force. In 1953 he was honorably discharged from the service and married Julie in May of 1954. At the time he began to work for Central Vermont and Canadian National railway systems. He worked for the railroad for 41 years. Upon his retirement Bob and Julie decided to move to St. Petersburg, Fla. where they live today.

Bob is survived by his wife, Julie, of 61 years.  Bob and Julie had three great children:  son Michael and his wife, Lucy; daughter Patty; daughter Jeanne and Tony.  Three grandchildren: Jason and wife, Tyler; Brianne and Gabrielle and one great-grandchild, Jocelyn. His siblings include brother Jack (predeceased) and his wife Rose, brother Paul (predeceased) and his wife Jackie; brother Don (predeceased) and wife Dottie; brother Jimmy and his wife, Linda;  Sister Anne with husband, Bob.

The Funeral Mass will be held at Blessed Trinity Catholic Church on Thursday, July 9, at 10:30 a.m. followed by a Celebration of Life (the location to be determined).  Funeral arrangements are being prepared by Brett Funeral Home in St Petersburg, FL – See more at: http://www.brettfuneralhome.net  In lieu of flowers we ask that donations be made to Daystar Life Center, 226 6th St. S., St Petersburg, FL 33701
