ST. ALBANS/AUGUSTA, Maine – Robert Kenneth Patnaude – age 82, of Augusta, passed away on Wednesday, Aug. 14, 2013 at Maine General Medical Center in Augusta after a long illness.
Bob was born in St. Abans on July 7, 1931 the son of Howard and Lena (Peters) Patnaude.
He attended Holy Angels School and Bellows Free Academy in St. Albans and received his GED from the State of Maine.
Bob married Josephine “Jo” Herson at St. Louis Catholic Church in Highgate Center, Vermont on Sept. 18, 1954 by the Rev. Walter Charland.
After Bob was discharged from the Army in 1955, Bob & Jo moved to Maine, first to Hallowell, then to Augusta. Bob was employed by Hudson Pulp& Paper Co., later Statler Tissue Co. for a total of 33 years as a turbine operator. He also worked part time for LaPointe Lumber Co in Augusta.
He was a communicant of St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church in Augusta where he was an usher. He was a Life member of the Calumet Club.
Bob was proud of his home and family. He also enjoyed his many afternoon coffees at the “Liars Club”, the Dunkin Donuts on Civic Center Drive with his friends.
He enjoyed being in his workshop at home creating wood projects. He also enjoyed his model railroads that were set up at his home, showing them off to family and friends. He enjoyed going to his children’s and grandchildren’s dance recitals, band concerts, science fairs and sporting events.
Bob is survived by his beloved wife Jo of Augusta; his children, Robert and his wife Muriel of Winthrop, David and his wife Diane of Augusta, and Lisa Morin and her partner Greg Trask of Augusta; his beloved grandchildren Melissa (Patnaude) and her husband Ben Curll of Augusta, Ashley Patnaude of Sabattus, Amy (Morin) and her husband Corey Laplante of Turner, Derek Patnaude and his partner Liz Ouellette of Saco, and Danielle Patnaude of Portland; two special great-grandchildren, Jennifer Ackerman of Sabattus, and Haley Laplante of Turner; a brother-in-law, Norman Sweeney of Clovis, N.M.; several nieces, nephews and a very special friend, Marge Bennett of Augusta. He was predeceased by his parents, a sister Joyce Gould, and a sister in law, Jan Sweeney.
Private burial will be in Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Civic Center Drive, Augusta, Maine, at a later date.
