DANBY – Robert Eugene Minckler, 68 of Danby and a former resident of Rutland, died unexpectedly Sunday morning, Aug. 11, 2013 at his residence.

He was born in Swanton on Oct. 26, 1944, the son of Stanley and Ila Minckler. Mr. Minckler managed Forest Park in Rutland for several years, and worked at Carris Reels prior to becoming employed by the Town of Clarendon at the Transfer Station. He enjoyed hanging out at Ron Hill’s garage and trading cars. Many times he had three cars registered at once.

Survivors include three sisters, Nancy Brault of St. Albans, Jean Elliot, Sara Tatro and a brother, Cecil Lockerby, all of Swanton. His family also has so much appreciation for Lena, who helped him for the last several years and his very good friends Ron and Jennifer. He will be missed by his family and many friends. His sister, Nancy, will miss their many chatty phone calls.

He was predeceased by his wife, Bette Steele Minckler.
