ST. ALBANS — Mrs. Rita M. Gamache, age 84, passed away Wednesday, May 14, 2014 at Fletcher Allen Healthcare. She was born in Winooski, June 16, 1929, daughter of the late Joseph and Flora (St. Cyr) Bergeron. May 14, 1955, she married Mr. Daniel Gamache. Mr. Gamache died Feb. 12, 2002. Rita worked at the Fonda Container Corporation for 15 years, and the IBM Corporation for seven years retiring in 1992. She was a member of the Women of the Moose, Franklin County Senior Center, and St. Mary’s Parish. She enjoyed playing cards, fishing, cooking and mostly spending time with her family.
Rita is survived her four sons, Marcel Gamache of Underhill, Bernard Gamache of Westlake, Ohio, Frank Gamache and his wife, Janet, of Pompano Beach, Fla., and Raymond Gamache of Underhill, her two daughters, Louise Brosseau and her husband, Claude, and Denise Bruley and her husband, Michael, all of Swanton. She also leaves her grandchildren, Elizabeth, Nick and Alex Brosseau, Angela Bohannon, Jennifer and Charles Gamache, Allison and Steven Bruley, a sister Pauline Boulerice of St. Albans, and a brother Conrad Bergeron, of Williston. Rita was predeceased by her parents, her husband, Daniel, a son Victor Gamache, a sister Theresa Bouchard, and her brothers Raymond and Armand Bergeron.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, May 20, 2014 at 11 a.m. in St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, with Father Maurice Roy celebrating. Interment will follow in the Gamache family lot in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Swanton. Friends may call at the Brady & Levesque Funeral Home, 86 South Main St., St. Albans, from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday.
