SHELDON — Richard L. Gowing (Rick) passed away on Sunday, Feb. 2, 2014, after a long battle with brain cancer, at the age of 54. He was born on June 29, 1959 to Helen and Richard Shambo. Rick grew up farming and worked at Ben and Jerry’s, Fonda Container and his beloved job as a separator operator at the St. Albans Cooperative Creamery, Inc. Rick was a hard working family man and an avid deer hunter as well as a loyal Vikings fan. He is very missed by his pug, Belle.

Rick is survived by his loving wife, Angela Gowing, his sons Shaun (Kim) Quinn, Richard (Jessica) Quinn, and Brandon (Jennifer) Quinn, a daughter, Ariana Gosselin, his step sons, Mike, Chris, and Shane Bertrand and Rick Larose II. His sisters, Kathy Tucker (Frank Dragon) Valerie Rosa, and Paula (Kevin) Boudreau, Patty Mchaffie and a brother, Robby (Cindy) Shambo. Rick had many grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Rick also leaves behind numerous friends and family members and people who whom his family is forever grateful for. He was predeceased by his parents, Helen and Richard Shambo and a sister, Patty Mchaffie.

A service will be held for Rick on Friday, Feb. 7, 2014 at 1 p.m. at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in Alburgh. There will be a celebration of life for Rick this summer.
