BERKSHIRE – Raymond C. Vaillancourt, age 64, passed away unexpectedly on Sept. 16, 2013 at the Northwestern Medical Center in St. Albans surrounded by his loving family.

Raymond was born in the family farmhouse in Berkshire on May 2, 1949 to the late Ronald and Marjorie (Rogers) Vaillancourt.

He attended the Berkshire School House and graduated from Enosburg Falls High School class of 1967. He worked for a short time at GE in Burlington, but his love of the family farm and passion for logging and working outdoors brought him home to work with his father and grandfather; Ronald & Eugene. Raymond worked on the farm until 2005. Raymond loved boxing; he was the 1977 Vermont Gold Glove Champion, he also enjoyed hunting, sugaring, playing Texas Hold Em’ with his buddies Tim, Scott and Damian, going to car shows, his ’68 Barracuda and ’39 Ford Coupe, trips to the casino, breakfast at the Dairy Center, watching westerns, working in the garden and yearly vacations with Anne.

Raymond was at all the grandkids’ sporting events; he was their biggest fan, usually cheering loudly and often offering his advice throughout the game. He never missed a school event, concert or “grandparent” dinner. He loved to teach the kids how to hunt, set up the “perfect” tree stand, play card games, share a snack while watching westerns, take naps and rides on the tractor and four-wheeler. Raymond was a husband, father, father-in-law, uncle, cousin, friend and neighbor, but most of all, he loved being “Pepere”.

Raymond is survived by his best friend and wife of nearly 44 years, Anne (Parent) Vaillancourt of Berkshire; his children, Jeri Patterson and her husband Tom of Franklin, Jarrod Vaillancourt and his wife Michelle of Berkshire and Margaux Luneau and her husband Joe of St. Albans; his grandchildren and pride and joy, Erika, Kelli, Carson, Charlie, Sammy, Isaac and Derek; a brother, Glenn Vaillancourt and his wife Trish of St. Albans; a sister, Debra Goodrich and her husband Mike of Berkshire; a mother-in-law, Mary Parent of Enosburg Falls; siblings-in-law, Suzanne Gervais and her husband John of Taylors, S.C., Gerard Parent Jr. and his wife Heidi of Dunnellon, Fla., and Nancy Tessier and her husband Kenneth of Enosburg; special friends, Mike Bashaw, Guy Mercure, Stuart Baker and Anthony Lussier and several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Raymond was predeceased by his son, Chad Vaillancourt in 1988; his brothers, Robert and Tommy; his grandparents, Eugene and Bernadette Vaillancourt; father-in-law, Gerard Parent Sr. and brother-in-law, Mark “Peanut” Parent.

Funeral Services will be held Friday, Sept. 20, 2013 at 11 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Church, Missisquoi St., Enosburg Falls with Rev. Roger Charbonneau celebrating the Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in St. John the Baptist Cemetery.

A time of visitation will be held on Thursday evening from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Spears Funeral Home, 96 Dickinson Ave., Enosburg Falls.
