ST. ALBANS — Peter Nelson Chagnon, 73, of Chelsea, Oklahoma passed away Nov. 21, 2015. He was born on Feb. 8, 1942 the son of Lorraine Mary Jane (Couture) and Clarence Chagnon in Burlington at Mary Fletcher Hospital. Mr. Chagnon attended Burlington High School then shortly after, Peter served in the Army Special Forces at Ft. Benning. He met his wife, Marlene Chagnon in Burlington, Vermont and married in 1965. They were married 46 years and raised three children together as well as Marlene’s son, Dennis. Mr. Chagnon retired from the St. Albans Messenger as a pressman. Peter Nelson Chagnon was a man of honor, respect, and joking. He had a big heart and was loved by his family. He enjoyed being outdoors whether it was hunting, fishing, and especially ice fishing. He also found enjoyment in board/card games, Godzilla and James Bond movies, and Yahtzee. Mr. Chagnon had a passion riding his motorcycle. He loved to make people laugh and loved practical jokes. He is survived by his children, Kathy Tufts, Kim “Chipmunk”, and Kenneth Chagnon. As well as nieces, nephews, many grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Peter is predeceased by his wife of 46 years, Marlene M. (Blow) Chagnon, as well as his parents, Loraine and Clarence Chagnon; brother, Wayne Chagnon; grandchildren, Tiffany and Christopher Chagnon, as well as his loyal canine companion, Tinkerbell.
