ENOSBURG — Orville Wayne Kennedy, 78, passed away on Saturday, Oct. 5, 2013 at the Northwestern Medical Center in St. Albans.
Wayne was born on Feb. 15, 1935 in Manzanola, Colo., the son of James Orville and Lois (Peterie) Kennedy. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1957 to 1961.
In his early years, Wayne was employed by General Dynamics, working as an electrician on missle sites in Wyoming, Kansas and Plattsburgh, N.Y. He later worked for the Harris Corp. in Champlain, N.Y. for 23 years, the Yankee Corp. in Georgia, IBM and Medical Associates in Georgia, retiring in 2000.
An avid sports fan, Wayne enjoyed bowling, fishing, football and baseball, especially the New England Patriots and Montreal Expos.
Surviving are two sons, Kent Kennedy of Plattsburgh, N.Y. and Christopher Kennedy of Champlain, N.Y.; two grandchildren Amanda Dugger and Jacob Kennedy; sisters, Sharon Buffington and her husband Dennis, a sister Linda and her husband Ed of Cheyenne, Wyo., Lila Nuamaker and her husband Fred and Helen Knudson all of Tuscon, Ariz.; and a sister-in-law Irene Kennedy of Cheyenne, Wyo.
In addition to his parents, Wayne was predeceased by his brothers, Daryl, Jim and Loren Kennedy, and a sister Phyllis Little.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, Oct. 11, 2013 at 1 p.m. at the Spears Funeral Home, 96 Dickinson Ave. in Enosburg Falls with the Rev. Dr. Marguerite Gage officiating. Interment, with military honors, will follow in the Enosburgh Center Cemetery.
