ST ALBANS — Omer D. Martin, age 74, passed away Saturday, July 18, 2015, at University of Vermont Medical Center. He was born Thursday, Jan. 16, 1941 in Danbury, Conn., Son of Gerard Martin and M. Jane (Ouimet) Martin. He married Jane Richardson on Sep. 22, 1962. Omer worked as a Machinist for General Electric and Pratt and Whitney and Veland Valve. He was a member of The Sons of the American Legion Squadron #1, Arrowhead Senior Center, Franklin County Senior Center, the Loyal Order of Moose, VFW Post #758, and was a parishioner of Holy Angels Church. He enjoyed gardening, farming, country music, and fixing things.
Omer is survived by his wife, Jane, his two surviving children, Lynn Mahler and her husband, Kenneth of Cedar Park, Texas and Omer Martin and his wife, Aron of Chesapeake, Va., five grandchildren, Rebecca Gagne, Brett Pelkey, Ian Pelkey, Hanna Martin, Kayla Martin and step-grandchildren, Jeffrey and Timothy Mahler, step-great-granddaughters, Kya and Lindsay Gagne, his two brothers, Richard Martin and his wife, Carol of Milton and John Martin of St. Albans, three sisters, Nancy Saliba and Theresa Dodge both of St. Albans, and Lorraine Scott of Austin, Texas, with several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents, Gerard Martin and M. Jane Martin, two sons, Gerard Martin and Joseph Martin, and one brother, Norman Martin. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, Jul. 27, at 10 a.m. in Holy Angels Church. Interment will follow in the Martin family lot in St. Mary’s, Swanton. The family will receive condolences from 6 to 9 p.m. Sunday, July 26, in the Brady & Levesque Funeral Home, 86 South Main St, St. Albans, Vt. 05478.
