Not So Trivial Pursuit: Franklin County Edition

The St. Albans Messenger invites our readers to play (Not So) Trivial Pursuit, Franklin County Edition. It’s a fun and educational twist on the well known family game called Trivial Pursuit.

Playing is easy and fun! Find a game board in the St. Albans Messenger on Wednesday, February 15, Thursday, February 16th, and in The Extra on Saturday, February 18, 2017. Watch for an ad in the paper each day from one of our participating businesses. In the ad we’ll ask you a question about Franklin County and we will GIVE YOU the correct answer on the game board! The more pieces you collect, the more prizes you’ll be eligible to win.

And we’re talking BIG prizes! Like $1,000 bucks and $100 gift cards and memberships to local businesses!  So, get your game board, learn a little about the place we call home, have some fun, beat the winter blues and enter to sin some great prizes!

Look for the game board in the St Albans Messenger on Tuesday February 14, Thursday February 16th, and in The Extra on Saturday February 18, 2017

How to Play:

Each color on our (Not So) Trivial Pursuit game board represents a different category of questions — pink for history, green for agriculture, yellow for geography and blue for fun facts. Each day in the paper, a local business will have an ad with a question and a game piece. Your job is to cut out the game piece, and attach it to the game board on the corresponding spot on the board. Don’t worry if you can’t guess the correct answer – we’ll give it to you on the board!

  1. Save this game board and look for matching game pieces in the St. Albans Messenger, or stop by each day’s participating business or the St. Albans Messenger office to pick up each piece on the date listed. Game pieces will be published from Tuesday, February 21, 2017 – Wednesday, March 29, 2017.
  2. Clip and collect at least 16 game pieces to win prizes pictured on the center of the game board, like $50 gift cards, memberships to local businesses and $100 prize packages. The more game pieces you collect, the more prizes you’re eligible for, including the grand prize of $1,000 cash for those who collect all 32!
  3. Submit your completed game board to the St. Albans Messenger between March 30, 2017 – April 11, 2017. Game boards mailed to the St. Albans Messenger must be postmarked no later than Wednesday, April 5th, 2017. Gameboards delivered to the St. Albans Messenger will not be accepted after close of business on Tuesday, April 11, 2017.
  4. Check the St. Albans Messenger on Monday, April 24, 2017 to find out if you won.

GUIDELINES & RULES

Game Pieces

  • Each participating business will have its (Not So) Trivial Pursuit game piece printed once in the St. Albans Messenger. A limited number of additional (Not So) Trivial Pursuit pieces will be available at the St. Albans Messenger. Each business will be given a limited number of (Not So) Trivial Pursuit pieces the day of, or after they appear in the paper. If a business is not open the day its (Not So) Trivial Pursuit game piece is printed, that business may distribute its (Not So) Trivial Pursuit pieces the next day it is open.
  • (Not So) Trivial Pursuit, Franklin County Edition participants must collect a minimum of sixteen game pieces to enter and may collect a maximum of 32 game pieces to be eligible for prizes. The grand prize winner will be drawn first, via a random raffle drawing. Remaining grand prize entrants will then be added to the drawing for the second level of prizes, until all prizes have been drawn.
  • Players may obtain (Not So) Trivial Pursuit, Franklin County Edition game pieces without purchase by coming to the St. Albans Messenger office at 281 North Main Street, St. Albans on the day that each game piece is published. (Not So) Trivial Pursuit, Franklin County Edition game pieces will be available while supplies last.
  • Players may obtain (Not So) Trivial Pursuit, Franklin County Edition game pieces from participating businesses the day of and/ or after the piece is published in the St. Albans Messenger, while supplies last.
  • Businesses sponsoring (Not So) Trivial Pursuit, Franklin County Edition pieces may choose to have the St. Albans Messenger hand out their game piece.
  • If a business is not open on the date its (Not So) Trivial Pursuit, Franklin County Edition game piece appears in the St. Albans Messenger, it may distribute the piece the next business day it is open (after the piece has been published in the Messenger).

Eligibility Requirements

  • Individuals 10 years or older by Feb. 21, 2017, may play (Not So) Trivial Pursuit, Franklin County Edition. Individuals under 18 years of age must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian when redeeming prizes.
  • Persons who may play but may NOT be prize winners include employees of Vermont Publishing Corporation and immediate employee family members (defined as spouse, (step-) mother, father, brother, sister, daughter or son).
  • No purchase necessary while supplies last.

Grand Prize Eligibility

  • (Not So) Trivial Pursuit, Franklin County Edition players must obtain the official game board and collect all 32 official (Not So) Trivial Pursuit, Franklin County Edition pieces. (Not So) Trivial Pursuit boards and (Not So) Trivial Pursuit, Franklin County Edition pieces cannot be photocopied.
  • Players must attach all (Not So) Trivial Pursuit, Franklin County Edition game pieces to the correct spot on the board with tape or glue.
  • Players must fill out all of their contact information on the front of the (Not So) Trivial Pursuit, Franklin County Edition game board.
  • Players must mail or drop off their completed boards to the St. Albans Messenger office located at 281 North Main Street, St. Albans VT, 05478.
  • Completed boards must be postmarked by Tuesday, April 4, 2017 and received no later than Monday, April 10, 2017. The (Not So) Trivial Pursuit, Franklin County Edition prize drawing will be held and winners announced on Friday, April 21, 2017.
  • (Not So) Trivial Pursuit, Franklin County Edition winners may pick up their prizes at the St. Albans Messenger office the week of April 24-28, 2017.
  • (Not So) Trivial Pursuit, Franklin County Edition prize winners must bring photo identification to claim prizes. Children under the age of 18 must bring proof that the adult accompanying them is their parent or legal guardian.

Eligibility to win other prizes

  • See “Grand prize eligibility,” with the exception that player must collect between 16 and 32 game pieces.
