DUNWOODY, Ga. — Norma (Rusty) Shangraw Griffin age 86, died peacefully on March 19, 2015 in Dunwoody, Ga. She was born on Oct. 12, 1928 in Richford, Vt., the daughter of Vermont Supreme Court Chief Justice, Percival Shangraw and Ruth Marvin Shangraw.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, E.F. (Jeff) Griffin.  Rusty is survived by sons, Scott (Althea) of Dunwoody, Ga., David  (Maru) of Bennington, Vt., Jeff (Stephanie) of Cincinnati, Ohio, and daughter Sue Anne Wickman (Kevin) of Holland, Mi., 10 grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.

Rusty grew up in St. Albans and graduated from BFA, and then attended Skidmore College and graduated from the University of Vermont. She was a member of Pi Beta Phi sorority.  Her husband, Jeff, had a successful career with Energizer Battery Co. that took her family to Vermont, North Carolina, Iowa, Ohio and New York.  Each assignment and new city was her opportunity and challenge to make the transition smooth for her family.

She was a devoted mother and homemaker leading an active social life playing tennis, golf, bridge and dancing to her favorite song, Yellow Bird. She leaves many friends at Mount Anthony CC in Bennington, Vt., Lely Golf Club in Naples, Fla., and Brighton Gardens in Dunwoody, Ga.  A Celebration of Life ceremony will be held in May in Dunwoody, Ga.   Memorial contributions may be made to the COPD Foundation,  www.copdfoundation.org.
