Leatrice Theresa Rheaume, 83, of Cornish, N.H., died at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center on Wednesday, Aug. 18, 2010, surrounded by her family.
She was born Leatrice Theresa Ladieu on June 16, 1927, in Highgate, the only daughter of Clarence and Viola (West) Ladieu. She married Leo A. Rheaume on Sept. 28, 1954. Her and her husband raised eight children. They lived in several parts of Vermont, including Swanton, Sheldon, Shoreham, St. Albans and Perkinsville. Leatrice was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She liked to do needle point, crossword puzzles and loved spending time with her family. She enjoyed watching the Boston Red Sox and the Boston Bruins on TV.
She is survived by her husband of nearly 56 years; six sons: Dale and wife, Pauline, Cornish, N.H., with whom she had lived with for the past year, Marc and wife, Holly, Weathersfield, Vt., Terry and wife, Kathi, Claremont, N.H., Steven and wife, Kim, Springfield, Vt., Bruce and wife, Tammy, Enosburg Falls, Bryan, Colchester; two daughters, Karen Marshall and her husband, Steven, Georges Mills, N.H., and Lori Rheaume, Essex Junction. She had 19 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. She has three surviving brothers: Norman and wife, Theresa Ladieu, Pensacola, Fla., Lyle and wife, Janice Ladieu, St, Albans, and Roger and wife, Connie Ladieu, Murrells Inlet, S.C.; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She is predeceased by her parents; and a brother, Arnold, who was a toddler.
Friends may call at the Stringer Funeral Home on 146 Broad St., Claremont, N.H., on Sunday evening, Aug. 22, from 6 to 8 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Joseph Church on Elm Street in Claremont, Monday morning, Aug. 23, at 11 a.m. with Father George Majka officiating. A reception will follow in the church hall. Burial will take place at a later date.
The family suggests that donations be made in her memory to a church of one’s choice.
