Missisquoi Valley Union High School was the site Thursday, Nov. 21, of a symbolic flag raising ceremony. The event recognized that more than 30 percent of the school’s students are Abenaki. As part of Native American Appreciation Month, the Abenaki Circle of Courage drummers participated, as did area adult members of the tribe and the student body. The Franklin Northwest Supervisory Union Title VII Indian Education Office helped coordinate the event and disseminated copies of its newest offering, “Guide to College and Scholarships for Abenaki Students.”
