ST. ALBANS — Mrs. Myrtle I. Duprey, age 87, passed away Sunday evening, June 5, 2016, at the Northwestern Medical Center. She was born in Highgate Center Dec. 5, 1928, daughter of the late Arthur and Helen (Vaughn) Martell. Myrtle was one of 14 children. She worked for many years at the George Yett Bag Company. Myrtle was predeceased by her companion of over 50 years, Norman ‘Pickle’ Ploof, who passed in 2005 and her first husband Francis Duprey, Sr. in 1982.

Myrtle is survived by her children, Diane and Ted LaFar of Swanton, Penny and William Malloy of East Middlebury, Bonnie and Richard Garrett, Sally Riopel and her companion, Aymer ‘Ace’ Gover, Norman Duprey all of St. Albans, Lisa and Michael McLaughlin of Bull Head City, Ariz., Deborah and Kenneth Bohannon, and Robin and Kevin Gover, all of Swanton; 25 grandchildren and 34 great-grandchildren; a sister, Gloria Sweeny of Fla., a son-in-law, Frederick Snide, and a daughter-in-law, Sue Duprey. Besides her parents, her son Francis Duprey, Jr., a daughter Sandra Snide, a grandson Cody Hale, her brothers and sisters, and sons-in-law Burt Hale and Francis Riopel predeceased her.

A Funeral of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, June 9, 2016, at 2 p.m. in the Brady & Levesque Funeral Chapel, 86 South Main St., with Deacon Duane Langlois officiating. The family will receive condolences from 1 p.m. until the time of the funeral. Interment will follow in the Duprey family lot in Mount Calvary Cemetery.
