GEORGIA — Millicent A Martin, age 81, died peacefully on Dec. 4, 2013, at Our Lady of the Meadows in Richford, surrounded by her family and extended family.  Millie was born July 28, 1932, in Jefferson, N.H., the daughter of Kenneth Cameron and Lauretta (Audette) Cameron.

She was a loving wife, mother and friend.  In her younger years she held various jobs in St. Albans including bartending at the Edgewater Pavilion and a seamstress in a sewing shop.  After she married the love of her life, Leon “Pepper” Martin, on Nov. 14, 1956, she and Pepper owned and operated Martin’s Welding and Repair Shop for many years and also raised their family.

Millie had many friends throughout her life, was a member of the Holy Angels Church and the Quilting Guild in St. Albans.  She loved to read, was a skilled seamstress, and an avid crafter [enjoying knitting and ceramics].  You could often find her baking goodies, canning the harvest from her garden or cuddling her grandchildren which she adored.  She will be missed by many and remembered fondly.

Millie is survived by her daughters, Cheryl Rogers and her husband, Ron, of St. Albans, Tammy Cyr and her husband, David, of Swanton, Lori Baker and her husband, Donald,  of Georgia, and  Michelle Wilcox and her husband, David, of Fairfield; her sisters, Jennie Potter of Rutland,  and Kaye Rocque, of St. Albans; her brothers,  Angus Cameron of Glendale, Ariz., Bruce Cameron and his wife,  Hazel, of Jefferson N.H., and David Cameron and his wife, Patience, of Jefferson, N.H.  She also leaves behind her grandchildren and great grandchildren, Renee Atkins and her husband, Silas, and their children, Thaise and Easton; Ryan Cyr and his wife, Katie,  and their son, Elliott;  Shana Corbin and her husband,  Robert, and their son, Henry; Olivia Baker and  Joseph, Emily and Abbey Wilcox.

She was predeceased by her husband, Leon “Pepper” Martin on Oct. 13, 1999; her grandson, Albert Rogers; her parents, Kenneth and Lauretta Cameron; her brother, Oscar Cameron and her brothers-in-law, Maurice Rocque and George “Bubby” Potter.

Millie’s family would like to thank the staff at Our Lady of the Meadows for the care and support given to her and her family during her stay.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours on Thursday, Dec. 12, 2013, from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Heald Funeral Home, 87 South Main Street, St. Albans.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, Dec. 13, at 11 a.m. in Holy Angels Church, 245 Lake Street, St. Albans. The Reverend Maurice J. Roy will be the celebrant.
