ST. ALBANS — Mildred M. Church a lifelong area resident passed away early Thursday, July 17, 2014, at the St. Albans Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center with her loving family at her side.

Born on Oct. 25, 1921, in Fairfield, she was the daughter of the late Willard and Jenny (Bushey) Garrett. Mildred was 92 years old.

Mildred was a communicant of Holy Angels Parish, a member of Green Mountain Post # 1, American Legion Women’s Auxiliary and enjoyed playing bingo and knitting.

Mildred is survived by her children, Howard Church and his wife, Joyce, of St. Albans, Roland Church and his wife, Carolyn, of Swanton, Norman Church and his girlfriend, Doreen Draper, of Swanton and Linda Bates and her husband, Louis, of Franklin; nine grandchildren, twenty-one great grandchildren and her half-sister, Patricia Thomas of Burlington.

In addition to her parents, Mildred was preceded in death by her husband, Howard L. Church, her infant daughter, Pauline, daughter-in-law, Sheryle E. Church, step-father, Almon Martin and her brothers, Ralph, Gordon, Almon, Herman, Vernon and brothers-in-law, Allen, Herbert and Arnold Church and sister-in-law, Jenny Marlow.

Mildred’s family would like to express a heartfelt thanks to the staff at the St. Albans Healthcare & Rehabilitation Center for the care and support to her and her family during her stay and also to the St. Albans Dialysis Unit during her time there.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours on Sunday, July 20, 2014, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Heald Funeral Home, 87 South Main Street, St. Albans.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, July 21st at 11:00 AM at Holy Angels Catholic Church, 245 Lake Street, St. Albans. Interment will follow in the family lot in Mount Calvary Cemetery.
