ST. ALBANS — Mary Kathryn Jarvis, a lifelong area resident, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, Jan. 27, 2016, at the UVM Medical Center with her family at her side.

Born in St. Albans on July 9, 1953, she was a daughter of the late George and Evelyn (Davies) Durkee. Mary was 62 years old.

On Apr. 26, 1974, she married Dan W. Jarvis, who survives her.

Mary was a 1971 graduate of Bellows Free Academy. For the past 34 years she was associated with Northwestern Counseling and Support Services, best known by the name ‘MJ,’ having just retired five weeks ago. She enjoyed reading and spending time with her family.

Survivors include her husband of 41 years, Dan, of St. Albans; their two children, Sean and his wife, Jenna, of St. Albans and Caitlin of Syracuse, N.Y. Mary was so excited for the birth of her first grandson, Jaxson, who is due on Feb. 7.

Mary is also survived by her brother, Paul Durkee, of Colorado, her mother-in-law, Harriet Jarvis-Elwood and sister-in-law, Carolina Goodbred and her companion, Allen Baker and her children, Evan and Amanda.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours on Monday, Feb. 1, 2016, from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Heald Funeral Home, 87 South Main St.

A funeral service will follow in the Heald Chapel at 6 p.m. with Robert Awil, Associate Pastor at the Church of the Rock officiating.
