ST. ALBANS — Mary Dowling Nemeth died of Multiple Myeloma on Jan. 31, 2014. Mary was born on June 21, 1944 in St. Albans to John and Anita (Wiegand) Dowling.
She graduated in 1962, from Bellows Free Academy in St. Albans. In 1965, she graduated from Mary Fletcher Hospital School of Nursing in Burlington. As an RN, she worked at Mary Fletcher Hospital and Mount Desert Island Hospital in Bar Harbor, Maine. She received her Bachelor’s degree from St. Joseph’s College of Maine.
She married Dr. Clifford J. Nemeth on Nov. 29, 1969 in Burlington. In 1981, they moved from Winthrop, Maine to Loveland, Colo. She was employed at Oakwood Urology Clinic and Rowe’s Flowers and Gifts while living in Loveland.
Mary was very involved in the Loveland community serving as president of Philo, Loveland Medical Wives and PEO Chapter FL. Mary was instrumental in helping establish the Newborn Hearing Screening program at McKee and was the Colorado representative for the National Cued Speech Foundation for the Deaf.
She was a member of the St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish in Ft. Collins where she was an extraordinary minister of the Eucharist to the sick and homebound. Her faith was her rock throughout her cancer treatments providing her with peace and gratitude for each day.
Mary loved life and felt so blessed by her family and very special, supportive friends who were always there for her when needed with love, caring and prayers.
She is survived by her husband, Clifford, daughters Christine Nemeth of Ft. Collins, Nicole Nemeth and husband Paul Oesterle of Guelph, Ontario and son John Nemeth and wife Petra of Sterling, Va. She is also survived by her brother and wife, John and Jackie and son, J.J. Dowling of Chelmsford, Mass. She was Nana to three much-loved grandsons, Quentin and Ethan Strother of Ft. Collins and Noah, son of John and Petra Nemeth. Mary is survived by her mother-in-law and various sister and brother-in-laws, nieces and nephews. She is also leaves behind her beloved Barry, Dowling and Wiegand families.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 6, 2014 at Kibbey Fishburn Funeral Home with a Recitation of the Rosary at 7 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, Feb. 7, 2014 at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish, Ft. Collins with reception immediately following in Seton Hall.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Foundation Fighting Blindness, or The National Cued Speech Foundation in care of Kibbey Fishburn Funeral Home.
