GEORGIA – Marjorie Bernice (Vest) Cobb, 88 of Georgia, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Saturday, Aug. 24, 2013 at the St. Albans Health and Rehabilitation Center in St. Albans.
Marjorie was born Dec. 19, 1924 in Burlington, the daughter of the late Herbert and Bernice (Lacillade) Vest. She married Herbon Cobb and together raised five children. They celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary this past April. Marge and Herb loved to travel across the country to visit family and enjoyed stopping in Las Vegas for a little gambling.
Marge had worked at General Electric in Burlington for 27 years prior to retiring.
In 1974, Marge and Herb opened the Cobbweb in Georgia, where they had many happy times with family and friends, while enjoying square dancing, bingo and weddings.
She is survived by her husband, Herbon of Georgia and their children; Joseph and JoAnne Cobb of St. Albans, Lynda and Leo Blair of Milton, Kara and John Tanner of Winter Haven, Fla., Steven and Patricia Cobb of Georgia and Ty Cobb of Georgia. 12 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. Her sisters; Natalie Ashton of Merritt Island, Fla., Joan and Daniel Zimmerman of Everett, Pa., and Carol and Ray Gurule of Sun Lakes, Ariz., her sister in law, Elsie Goodrich of Aloha, Ore., and many nieces, nephews and friends.
She was predeceased by her parents, her brother, James Vest and her sister, Marilyn Begins.
Marjorie’s family would like to express their gratitude and sincere appreciation to the administration and special nurses and staff at St. Albans Health and Rehab for the kind and compassionate care extended to their mother during her stay there.
Visiting Hours will be held on Thursday, Aug. 29, 2013 from 5 to 7 p.m. followed by a Funeral Service at 7 p.m. offered by Fr. John Feltz in the Minor Funeral Home, Route 7 in Milton.
Burial will be held on Friday morning at 11 a.m. in St. Ann’s Cemetery on Middle Road in Milton.
