ST. ALBANS — Major Richard F. Jarvis, U.S.A.F (Retired) died on Jan. 1, 2014, at the Franklin County Rehab Center in St. Albans.

He was born in Isle LaMotte on Dec. 27, 1919, the son of the late Wilbur and Katherine (Tusa) Jarvis.

He leaves his wife, Doris (LaBounty) Jarvis and children, Molly Jarvis of Burlington, Richard Jarvis Jr. and his wife, Claudia, of Sanford, Maine, James Jarvis and his wife, Karen, of Buffalo, N.Y., Arlene Jarvis, of St. Albans and Nancy Mueller and her husband, John, of LaFayette, N.Y. Also his sister, Velma Cameron, of Alburgh, Theresa Hinman of South Burlington and brothers, Ken Jarvis of Burlington, and William Jarvis in Pennsylvania. He also leaves behind eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He is predeceased by his sister, Madeline Pearo and brother, Florin Jarvis.

A private memorial service and burial are being planned for the spring at the Vermont Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Randolph. Please visit to leave a private message for the Jarvis family.
