SHELDON — More than 200 people gathered here Sunday, among them Civil War enthusiasts, local history buffs, and the just plain curious.

They were here to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the day Lt. Bennett Young led a group of Confederate soldiers in the St. Albans Raid. Their getaway took them right through Sheldon on their way into Canada.
