NEWPORT — Mr. Larry C. Johnson, age 71, of West Charleston, passed away peacefully at the Bel Air Nursing Facility on Sunday, April 19, 2015.
Larry was born in St. Albans on April 11, 1944, the son of the late Chauncey “Jake” Johnson and Bertha Clapper. He was a graduate of BFA in St. Albans. He was a machine operator for most of his life for the Rock Tenn Paper Mill, retiring after 33 years of service.
Larry loved to hunt and fish, and was a great fan of the Boston Red Sox, NASCAR racing and country music. He also had a soft heart for all animals.
Larry leaves his wife, Rita Driver Johnson of West Charleston; three sons Frank Johnson and his wife Norma of Austin, Texas, Brian Johnson and his wife Lisa of Swanton, and Kevin Johnson and Emily Barnes of St. Alban, a daughter, Karen Phenix, and her husband, Joe, of St. Albans Bay; brothers, Ronald Johnson and his wife JoAnne of Sheldon, and Michael Johnson and his wife Therese of Georgia, his mother-in-law Gloria Robillard of Brownington, two stepsons Shawn Driver and his girlfriend, Chrystal Sheldon, of W. Charleston, and Scott Driver; a stepdaughter Shelia Driver and George Weber, Jr. all of West Charleston, several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, his twin brother, Gary Johnson, and a nephew Jeremy Johnson.
A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, April 23, 2015 at 1p.m. in the Brady & Levesque Funeral Chapel, with Deacon Duane Langlois officiating.
