LACOLLE, QUEBEC, CANADA/SWANTON — Kathryn Lois Batchelder Robinson passed away unexpectedly at her Lacolle home on Sunday, June 29, 2014. Born in Swanton to the late Ezra and Nellie (Johnson) Batchelder, she was a graduate of Swanton High School and attended the former Burdett School of Business in Boston.
On July 19, 1958, Lois was married to William Alan Robinson and moved to Lacolle, Quebec where they spent the next 56 years together. They wintered in Jensen Beach, Fla., for the last 20 years.
She operated a women’s and children’s clothing store in Swanton, Vermont called KL Fashions for 15 years ending in 1966.
Lois was a member for over 50 years of both the Lacolle United Church Women (UCW) and Swanton chapter #11 of The Order of the Eastern Star. She had a gift and love for music and taught herself how to play piano. She enjoyed playing piano at the Lacolle United Church as well as being a choir director of both the junior and senior choirs for over 50 years. She also served as a Sunday school teacher for many years.
She was predeceased by her brothers, Webster and Orin Batchelder and her sister, Lucille Sampson.
Lois is survived by her beloved husband, William Alan (Al) of Lacolle, Quebec.; her son Jeff and his wife, Colleen of Williston, Vt.; and her two loving grandchildren Kara of New York City, N.Y., and Eric of Williston, Vt. She is survived by many extended family members in both the United States and Canada.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 3, 2014 at 4 p.m. from the Kidder Memorial Home, 89 Grand Ave., Swanton, VT, where friends may call prior to the funeral from 2 to 4 p.m. Interment will follow in the Robinson Family lot in Riverside Cemetery in Swanton.
