ST. ALBANS – Karen Lee Mulheron was granted her angel wings on Sunday, April 3, 2016. She joins her loving parents, Harold and Anna (King) Cross, brothers-in-law, Gerard Tremblay, Robert Menard and Thomas Mulheron and sister-in-law, Carlene Mulheron at home with our Heavenly Father.

Karen was born on Oct. 21, 1953, in St. Albans. She graduated from BFA, St. Albans in 1971. She was president of the FFF Club, an organization consisting of members with lasting bonds and friendships, Martha DesLauriers, Jane Leahy, Sandy Chicoine, Sally Lawyer, Nilda Gonnella-French and Lauren Baker.

Karen leaves her sister, best friend and angel here on earth, Paula Tremblay; her favorite brother, Harold Cross, Jr. (Sharon), who could always make her laugh; and her wonderful tender-hearted baby sister, Sonja Skipper (Robert), as well as many nieces and nephews. Our times together were always filled with laughter and memories of growing up as a family. Favorite family stories included a special friend, Sandra Chagnon.

On Sept. 1, 1973, Karen would share that it was the luckiest day of her life. She married the most wonderful man, Morris G. Mulheron. Together they were blessed to have two much loved, exceptional sons, Morris G. Mulheron, Jr. and Matt Robert Mulheron (Chelsea). The most precious gifts their sons gave to them are Christopher, Hayley, Isabelle and Isaac. Karen also leaves Morris, Jr.’s fiancée, Crystal Adams and her son Kevin.

Karen was accepted into the Mulheron family by Myrna Flanagan, who welcomed her with open arms and became a second mother to her, teaching her baking and canning and providing tasty treats for all occasions, Deborah Menard, always giving of herself, not only to Karen, but to the entire family who unselfish love and support, a true sister. Her brothers-in-law, Nelson Mulheron and Alan Mulheron; sister-in-law, Linda Mulheron and a very special nephew, Robert (Do) Menard, Jr., who holds a place in her heart for all he has done to make her Florida time wonderful.

Her professional life was working as a Registered Nurse at Northwestern Medical Center and for Dr. Joseph Salomone, friend and mentor. Many friendships were made among co-workers and the surgeons she had the pleasure to work with throughout her 23 years of service. A heartfelt thank you to Dr. Payne, Dr. Kennedy, Dr. Woodhouse, Dr. Tremblay, Dr. Sullivan and Dr. Fontaine for their support in promoting the First Assist program. Thank you to the compassionate, caring, supporting friends who made her last days joyful, Cindy Vaillancourt, Mary Bates, Sally Krupp, Carol St. Peter, Nicole Laroche, Stephanie Fregeau, Diane Greenfield and Lori Shuren.

A special note of gratitude is extended to Franklin County Home Health for the care and compassion during her illness. To Joyce, Emily, Jean, Kim and Isabelle, thank you for all you did to make Karen comfortable both emotionally and physically and also to Dr. Manchester and his office staff.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours on Wednesday, April 6, 2016, from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Heald Funeral Home, 87 South Main St., St. Albans.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, April 7th at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Angels Catholic Church, 245 Lake Street, with the Reverend Maurice J. Roy as celebrant. Interment will be in the family lot in Holy Cross Cemetery.
