SWANTON — Mr. Joseph Roland D. Benoit, age 75, passed away Tuesday evening, Dec. 15, 2015 at the Birchwood Terrace Nursing Facility. He was born June 23, 1940 in St. Albans, son of the late Albert and Cecile (Trottier) Benoit. Roland married Elizabeth Bugbee Sep. 23, 1961. He worked as a store manager for the Giants and Ames department stores, then in maintenance for Express Foods. Roland retired from the Swanton Mobil Station where he stocked shelves. Roland enjoyed hunting, camping and bowling. He will be fondly remembered for his sense of humor and his enjoyment of a good time.

Roland is survived by his wife, Betty Benoit, of Swanton; his children, Lisa Moss and her husband, Chris, Jeffrey Benoit and his wife, Pene Jefferson, all of St. Albans, Brian Benoit and his wife, Allison, of Swanton; his grandchildren, Cherie Chaloux-Warren and her husband, Freeman, Steven Chaloux, Brittni Moss, Christopher Benoit and his wife, Morgan, James Benoit, Phillip Benoit, Megan Jefferson, Michelle Gleason and her husband, Steven, Michael Holmes, Myranda Benoit, and Kolbin St. Francis; 11 great-grandchildren; a sister, Rita Cook, of Swanton, several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents, his sisters, Lucille Englebert and Theresa Atkins, his brothers, Lionel and Donald Benoit, and a nephew, Donald Bruso.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, Dec. 19, 2015 at 10 a.m. in Holy Angels Church. Interment will be in the Benoit family lot in the St. Albans Bay Cemetery. The family will receive condolences Friday, Dec. 18, 2015 from 7 to 9 p.m. in the Brady and Levesque Funeral Home, 86 South Main St. Online condolences may be sent to his family at the funeral home website: www.bradyandlevesque.com.
