ST. ALBANS —John H. Irish Jr., age 65, died Tuesday, Oct. 8, 2013, at his home in St. Albans.  He was born June 23, 1948 in Jeffersonville, son of the late John H. and Virginia (Miller) Irish.  John was a member of the last graduating class of Brigham Academy in 1966.  John served his country in the U.S. navy during Vietnam.  He worked for many years for Union Carbide, and more recently he was a general contractor owning his own business.  Oct. 15, 1994, he married Donna Hoague.  John was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #758, the American Legion Post #1, the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 1090, and the Fairfield Fire Department.

John is survived by his wife, Donna, his sons Michael Irish and his wife Vicky of East Fairfield, Jay Irish and his wife Jessica of Bakersfield, Tom Townley and his fiancé Amanda English of St. Albans, his daughter Tia Townley and her friend Brian Brooks of Essex, his brothers William Irish and his wife Tessa of Sheldon, Tim Irish and his wife Rhonda of Swanton, his sisters Judith Laberge and her husband Louis of Charlotte, Kathy Marshia and her husband Ken Forbes of Montgomery Center, Dottie Menard and her husband Donald of Sheldon, and Joan Irish and her companion Ed Lynch of Maynard, Mass., several nieces, nephews and cousins.  John was predeceased by his parents and his son Allen Steven Irish.
