RANSON, W.V. — John Alden Denison, 73, of Ranson, W.V., formerly of St. Albans, passed away on Saturday, July 25, 2015 at his residence.

Born Nov. 11, 1941 in Burlington, he was the son of the late Jack Denison and Mary Donovan Denison. John was a member of the Roman Catholic Parish of St. James the Greater and a third degree Knight of Columbus. He retired in 2001 after a 37 year distinguished career in banking, starting as a clerk in bookkeeping and rising through the ranks until he finished as a small business commercial lender. He was also a Civil War enthusiast. Above all happy things, John was a devoted grandfather.

He is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Teresa “Terry,” at home; one daughter, Jacquelin Pinilla and husband, Drew, of Warrenton, Va.; two sons, Kevin Denison and wife, Kimberly, of Summit Point, W.V. and Roger Hughes of Fla.; six grandchildren, Alanna, Luke and Julia Pinilla and Evan, Ryan and Connor Denison; one brother, Michael Denison of Roy, Utah; and one sister, Barbara Gryzmala and husband, Thomas of Keswick, Va.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Carolyn Denison; and his aunt, Charlotte Ruth Donovan, who kept life stable as a mentor after his mother’s early death.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, July 28 at St. James Catholic Church, 49 Crosswinds Drive, Charles Town, W. Va. with Fr. John Ledford as the Celebrant, assisted by Deacon David Galvin. The family will receive friends at the Eackles-Spencer & Norton Funeral Home, 256 Halltown Rd., Harpers Ferry, W.V. on Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. with a vigil at 7 p.m. Interment will follow at a later date in the family cemetery in Vermont.
