SWANTON — Jeff Cross, born Sept. 30, 1960, passed away early Aug. 17, 2014, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. He frequently expressed his gratitude to his family and friends for their dedication, love and support through this most difficult time. Jeff’s devotion and love for his family and friends was apparent in everything he did. Jeff enjoyed life to the fullest and his passion, wit and sense of humor helped him through this most difficult time.

Jeff worked in the construction trades and was a skilled craftsman. His talents and skills were evident in the homes he built for his sweetheart and wife Darlene. Jeff was happiest at home with Darlene and his loyal companions, Percy and Lacy.

Jeff was an avid outdoorsman; He loved to hunt, fish and spend time boating on Lake Champlain. He looked forward to his adventures with his friends and loved spending time with them. He loved NASCAR, The Minnesota Vikings, and playing cards with his friends while watching the Red Sox play.

With sorrow and admiration we say goodbye to this wonderful man – A true friend, a dedicated and loving husband, a big brother and wonderful son.

Jeff is survived by his loving wife of 27 years and best friend, Darlene, his father, Larry and wife, Donna, of Colchester; his sister, Laurie (Gypsy) Cross and significant other, Mike Barrett of Farr West, Utah; his mother-in-law, Rena Rocheleau, of St. Albans, sister-in-law, Andrea Rocheleau, of St. Albans, brother-in-law, Arthur Rocheleau and wife, Annette, of Georgia, brother-in-law, Dana Rocheleau and wife, Sarah, of Georgia; his nieces and nephews: Andrew Nish, Olivia Nish, Mariah Rocheleau, Maverick Rocheleau and Taylor Rocheleau and a very close friend, his aunt, Lynda Jeffrey. Jeff was predeceased by his mother, Leota Cross of Colchester, and father-in-law, Andrew Rocheleau, of St. Albans.

The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff at Fletcher Allen Health Care for the support and care given to Jeff; also, we extend a very special thank you to Franklin County Home Health Agency for the wonderful care that Jeff received during his final days.
