ST. ALBANS  — Jane Hathaway McGill passed Sept. 8, 2015, at the Vermont Respite House.

Born May 17, 1941, she was the daughter of Robert M. Hathaway and Helen Bell Hathaway and spent her years living along the shores of Lake Champlain on Hathaway’s Point.

A “jack of all trades”, Jane worked in a variety of settings, but treasured most her time with children.  Her work as a Health Outreach Specialist for the State of Vermont and as an assistant to the nurse at the Town Central School were two of her favorite occupations.  An avid tennis player and follower, Jane enjoyed weekend matches with friends and watching annual tournaments, especially Wimbledon. Her love for animals, in particular cats and dogs, was well known.  Even feathered friends knew they could count on her to keep the feeders full.

Jane is survived by her daughter, Kerry Young, her husband, John and grandsons, Parker and Andrew of Jericho; her son, Michael McGill, his wife, Mary and granddaughters, Isabel, Sydney, and Lilia of Houston, Texas and her brother, Nick Hathaway and his wife, Martha of St. Albans along with niece, Lisa Pino and nephews, Keith and Paul Hathaway and Stephen and Michael Wallenfels.  She was predeceased by her sister, Mary.

Visiting hours will be Saturday, Sept. 12 at the Heald Funeral Home, 87 So Main St, St. Albans from 1 to 4 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Vermont Respite House, 99 Allen Brook Lane, Williston, VT  05495 or The American Cancer Society, Vermont Division, 55 Day Lane, Williston, VT  05495. Messages of condolence to Jane’s family are welcome at www.healdfuneralhome.com.
