WINTER HAVEN, FLA./ ST. ALBANS —“Phil” Gilmore passed away after a lengthy illness on June, 7, 2014. Phil was born in Lowell, Mass., Feb. 19, 1939, the son of the late James and Theresa (Hession) Gilmore.

He graduated from Cathedral High School in Burlington, Vt., attended the University of Vermont, and was a member of the Vermont National Guard. He worked for 43 years at the pulp mill in Sheldon, Vt., under various companies. He was involved with coaching youth sports through his sons’ early years, was an avid bicycling enthusiast, and more recently was involved in the community where he and his wife retired, including on the Board of Directors of the Swiss Golf & Tennis in Winter Haven, Fla.

He was predeceased by his parents and half brother Charlie Gilmore. On Sept. 18, 1965, he married Sally Jordan. He is survived by his wife, Sally, and their children, Anne-Lisa Thuot and her husband, Gary, of Hockessin, Del., their children Gregg Thuot of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., and Lindsay Scott and her husband, Matthew, of Fredericksburg, Va., and their daughter Gabrielle; Army MSG Patrick Gilmore and his wife, Marilyn, of Odessa, Fla., and their children, Brandon and Abigail; Jeffrey Gilmore and his wife, Meagan, of Highgate, and their daughter Adelyn. He is also survived by his brother Dr. Norbert Gilmore of Montreal, PQ and many cousins, nephews and nieces.
