ENOSBURG FALLS – James P. “Jim” Button, age 73, passed away on Wednesday, June 20, 2018 after a long battle with cancer at his home in Enosburg Falls.

He was born in St. Albans on May 27, 1945 to the late Alfred and Jessie (Dennis) Button.

Jim enjoyed building birdhouses, woodworking, fishing, golfing, picking golf balls, camping, gardening, and collecting junk. Most importantly, Jim enjoyed spending time with his three grandchildren; they were his pride and joy. Jim also served in the U.S. Army and was a member of the American Legion Post #42 in Enosburg Falls.

He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Christine (Petig) Button of Enosburg Falls; daughter, Christine Rondeau-Bushey and her husband, Michael of Fairfield; son, James Button Jr. and his wife, Elizabeth of Enosburg Falls; three grandchildren, Ashley Button and her significant other, Matthew Jackstadt of Plattsburgh, N.Y., Dylan Rondeau of Fairfield and his significant other, Sabrina Young, and Iris Button of Enosburg Falls; his siblings, William Button and his wife, Paule of St. Albans, Molly Berry of Enosburg, Richard Button of Sheldon, David Button and his wife, Linda of Fairfield, Larry Button and his wife, Mary of Enosburg and several nieces, nephews & friends. Besides his parents, Jim was predeceased by his siblings, Joyce, Marjorie, Betty, Beverly, Russell, and Howard.

Jim’s family would like to thank the Franklin County Home Health Agency, Dr. Norris, Dr. Ades, Dr. Sternberg and the VA for the compassionate care he received during his illness.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, July 12, 2018 at 11 a.m. at Spears Funeral Home, 96 Dickenson Ave., Enosburg Falls. Interment with military honors will follow in the Highgate Center Cemetery.

Visitation will be held on Thursday from 10 a.m. until the hour of the service.
