SWANTON / JEFFERSONVILLE — Irene Eva Martin, age 89 years, a longtime Swanton resident died Friday morning, Oct. 23, 2015, at the home of her daughter Gloria and Richard Fraties in Jeffersonville.

Born in Waitsfield on March 2, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Julius Augustus and Olive Mary (Durocher) Lemoine. She attended schools in Jericho and Swanton and for nine years worked at the former Fonda Container Corp. and later for thirteen years at Digital Corp. She was a member of Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary – St. Louis Parish where she belonged to the Nativity Ladies of St. Anne.

Irene leaves two daughters, Maryellen Barrows and fiancé, Elliott Phillips of St. Albans and Gloria Martin Fraties and husband Richard of Jeffersonville; two sisters-in-law, Rita and Beverly Lemoine of Swanton; two special nieces, Elaine Begnoche of Swanton and Jill Hughes of St. Albans; grandchildren, Jennifer Sylvester, Brandy Messier and husband Tom, and Tory Tracey and husband Tom; great grandchildren, Zacharia and his fiancée Courtney Abel, Thomas, Gabriel, Wyatt, Breyanna Messier, Jeremy Patterson, Dreyvin Patterson and Raychel and Lynsey Sylvester; great great grandson, Jaxson Messier as well as several additional nieces and nephews. Also surviving is her former husband, Charles E. Martin of Swanton.

She was predeceased by brothers, Clifford, Clarence, Harold and George Lemoine and sisters, Ardelle Belrose, Lucille Tatro, Rose Ledoux, Doris Leblanc and Theresa Trahan.

A Funeral Service will be held Saturday, Oct. 31, 2015, at 11 a.m. from The Kidder Memorial Home, 89 Grand Ave., Swanton. Father Luke P. Austin will officiate. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family.

Friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the hour of the funeral.
